A Bold & Colorful Wedding at The Cookery in Durham | Catinca & Andrew

There are weddings that feel timeless, and then there are weddings that feel like pure magic. Catinca and Andrew’s celebration at The Cookery in Durham, NC was the best of both worlds—classic romance paired with bold, joyful details that reflected their personalities perfectly. Amanda Law, lead photographer with Fancy This Photography, had the honor of capturing every moment of their unforgettable day.

Saying “I Do” Under a Garden of Color

Their ceremony was framed by one of the most striking floral arches we’ve ever seen. Designed by Leslie Ivey, the arch spilled over with bright yellows, fiery oranges, deep purples, and textured greenery. Against the historic outdoor courtyard at The Cookery, it was a living piece of art that set the stage for their vows.

Catinca looked stunning in a sleek satin gown with delicate lace details, paired with a cathedral-length veil that seemed made for sweeping entrances (and dramatic first kisses). Andrew’s deep green suit was equally sharp—a refreshing choice that added character and richness to the palette. Together, they stood hand-in-hand beneath that arch, eyes locked, ready to start forever.

Reception at The Cookery

Inside The Cookery, guests were welcomed to a dinner setting that was elegant yet full of personality. Long tables dressed in patterned linens from Curated Events Raleigh stretched the length of the room, topped with soaring floral arrangements and flickering candles that bathed the brick walls in a warm glow.

Mitchell Casteel Catering delivered a meal that was as thoughtful as it was delicious, with each place setting detailed to perfection—even down to butter pats topped with sprigs of rosemary. Guests found their seats with the help of a chic mirrored seating chart by Domestic Oddess, accented with more blooms at its base.

And then there was the cake. Captivate Cake outdid themselves with a whimsical, garden-inspired design that mirrored the colorful florals of the day. With vibrant sugar flowers, textured green piping, and even pops of fresh fruit, it wasn’t just dessert—it was a showpiece.

Celebrating in Style

One of the most unforgettable parts of the night was Catinca and Andrew’s first dance. Under strings of market lights, they moved across the dance floor with complete joy, filling the room with energy. Later, the tempo picked up, and Catinca wowed everyone with a reception outfit change into a sparkly, fringe-covered party dress—proof that this couple knows how to balance elegance with fun.

From the heartfelt toasts to the packed dance floor led by CWDJ Entertainment, their reception was full of laughter, music, and moves no one will forget anytime soon.
