Hey, y'all!

I'm Nikki, and family sessions are genuinely one of my favorite things to show up for.

There is something about photographing a family in the middle of their real, beautiful, chaotic life that never gets old. The toddler who refuses to smile until they suddenly, inexplicably do. The newborn curled up impossibly small in your arms at home, in the space where your whole new life is just beginning. The extended family that hasn't all been in the same place in years, finally together and laughing about something only they understand. I am here for all of it.

I photograph families across the NC Triangle. For outdoor sessions, the Triangle has no shortage of beautiful spaces: golden hour at Umstead State Park, the trails along the Eno River in Durham, Occoneechee Mountain in Hillsborough, and the Coker Arboretum in Chapel Hill are some of my favorites. For families with fresh newborns, I love coming to you. In-home sessions are intimate, unhurried, and honestly some of the most beautiful work I do. Your home, your people, your light. That's the whole story.

My approach with families is low pressure and high energy. I am not asking anyone to stand stiff and say cheese. I give kids something to do, keep things moving, and watch for the moments that happen in between the posed ones, because those are almost always the best frames in the gallery.
