Fairytale Castle Portraits at The Graylyn Estate

Bridal Portraits, seems like a thing of the past for some. But I promise, they are still one of my favorite things to offer to our brides. Find out why bridal portraits are worth it and view Chelsea’s bridal portraits at Graylyn Estate in Winston Salem, NC.

In 1928 Bowman and Nathalie Gray set out to build Graylyn and we are so glad they did because it is the most epic fairytale castle backdrop for these bridal portraits.

Never thought of bridal portraits? I get it, but I promise it is the perfect way to move in your dress, make final decisions about your wedding day look or have a completely different one, and have photos you and generations after will treasure.

The Beautiful Graylyn Estate

You may want to consider this gorgeous estate for your upcoming portraits or nuptials.

Firstly, the estate is situated on 55 acres of beautiful, manicured gardens and grounds. These gardens feature a wide variety of flora and fauna, including blooming flowers, towering trees, and well-manicured lawns. The beautiful gardens provide a serene and natural backdrop for portraits, making it an ideal location for outdoor photoshoots.

Secondly, Graylyn Estate is a historic property that has been beautifully restored to its former glory. The estate was originally built in the 1920s by Bowman Gray Sr., a wealthy tobacco magnate, and has since been transformed into a luxurious hotel and event venue. The property features stunning architecture, including a grand staircase, arched doorways, and intricate stonework, which make it a beautiful and unique setting for portraits.

Finally, the estate offers a range of beautiful indoor spaces that can be used as backdrops for portraits. These spaces include elegant ballrooms, a cozy library, and a stunning dining room. Each of these spaces is beautifully decorated with unique features and luxurious furnishings, making them ideal locations for indoor portraits.

A Southern Thing

The tradition of taking bridal portraits may be a southern thing, but I think it is the sweetest thing! First, it allows the bride to have a trial run of her hair, makeup, and wedding dress to ensure everything looks the way she wants it to.

Second, it gives the bride and her photographer the opportunity to create beautiful images without the stress and time constraints of the wedding day.

The southern tradition is having the bridal portraits displayed at the wedding reception in a large frame.

WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER A BRIDAL PORTRAIT SESSION

Let’s lay them out one at a time, because these are great things to consider!

  1. Test run for hair and makeup: Bridal portraits provide an opportunity to do a trial run for your hair and makeup. You can see how everything looks together with your dress, veil, and accessories, and make any necessary adjustments before the wedding day.

  2. Capturing a special moment: Bridal portraits are a great way to capture a special moment in time. You'll have a beautiful record of yourself in your wedding dress that you can treasure for years to come.

  3. More time for photos: On the wedding day, there is usually limited time for taking photos. Having bridal portraits done separately means you can take your time and get as many shots as you want, without feeling rushed.

  4. Personalized decor: Having a framed portrait of yourself at the reception adds a personal touch to the decor. Your guests will love seeing a beautiful photo of the bride on display.

  5. Getting comfortable in front of the camera: Bridal portraits can help you get more comfortable in front of the camera, which can be helpful for the wedding day. You'll get to know your photographer better and get a sense of how they work, which can make the wedding day photography experience more relaxed and enjoyable.
