North Carolina Museum of Art Engagement Session

Oh, this engagement session was some kind of magical! I say this all the time, but I really do meet the best people! Audrey and David were such a joy to be around, and I could tell these two had some major love to go around!

We started their engagement session in downtown Raleigh in Market Square. If you have been to any weddings in that general area, you probably remember the sweet venue Market Hall. That beautiful cobblestone street that the venue sits on is exactly where we went for the first portion of their engagement session. It was beautiful, classic, and with these two in it, it made for some pretty pictures.

Later, we went over to NCMA (North Carolina Museum of Art) and basked in some of their pretty grounds. I loved the shaded areas in between the trees, but some of my favorites were right under one of their beautiful willow trees out back. It was a recipe for beautiful images, and I am glad I had the honor of photographing these two.

Congratulations, Audrey & David!

Julia & Kurt and their cat named Carlos | A Raleigh Engagement

This session was a fun one, and I don’t say that too lightly. Whenever I do an engagement session my number one priority is to get to know the couple—and not just the day of. Julia and Kurt wanted their engagement session to be a reflection of them, what they do in their life, and maybe even incorporate where they had their first date—Mecca.

When Julia sent me photos of her house my jaw almost dropped. This lady has the best vintage retro eye and styled their home so perfectly! You guys know that I love mustard yellow, and yall, their couch was this exact color! Oh, and they have a cat named Carlos who was equally as retro and just super sweet. Fun fact, if you have a cat present at your engagement session I will automatically fall in love and make the cat pose with you in any and all photos.

I don’t always do in-home sessions, but I feel like I should offer more. There is just something so nice about them—think about it, when your 20 years older and maybe living in a different house, and you can see how much you’ve grown, the happiness you felt, and see memories from the beginning years of your life together. This is something that I think goes unnoticed while youre in the moment, but will bring back some wonderful and dear memories later on in life when you may need them the most. I say the more in-home sessions the merrier—it’s a part of your story, and your story matters.

NZinga and Kevin | Downtown Raleigh Engagement Photography

Oh, my heart for these two! NZinga and Kevin brought so much energy and love to their downtown Raleigh engagement session! I, honestly, could not keep my eyes off of them. So contagious, vivacious, and just all around sweet people in general.

These two live not too far from the wondrous streets of downtown, so we thought it would only be appropriate to photograph them in their natural habitat--of course when they are not traveling! Both have their eyes set on Guatemala for their wedding next April and just the imagery they were giving me when talking about it makes me so giddy. I am so happy for these two and have been over the moon about the magic we made during their engagement session!

One of my favorite images is that of them inside the cutest little bar, Bittersweet. Seriously, that light is my jam and they were all about being in the moment. If you ever get the chance, go visit this place! 3 items the place specializes in: cocktails, desserts, and coffee. All 3 of us had a great time here at the end of our play date!
