Sage Farm Family Photography Session

In my hometown of Powellsville, NC

For those of you who are new around here—welcome! Although I consider myself a Durham-ite, I do have to pay tribute to my hometown located in Eastern, NC.

My sister and I have been finding ourselves home more often. I dont know about you, but whenever I go home I feel this sort of nostalgia that I cant recreate at any other place. Our hometown consists of rural farmland. The prettiest thing you could ever see coming home to your parents house is the endless amount of sage fields. Some are purple, some white, some mixed…all beautiful and quite calming as you drive by.

To document my sister and her family this year, we decided to do their annual family portraits in the sage. Absolutely gorgeous! Everyone, meet my sister, brother in law, and kids (oh, and there are some photos of our mom sprinkled in there, too!).

And while we are at it, I am going to share some more fun images we took in Grancy’s back yard! For those of you wondering, my mom Nancy, has picked her grandmother name to be Grancy. Brilliant, right? Those images will be near the bottom.

Brooks Family | Outer Banks Family Photography

The universe works in ways that I can hardly grasp. It was by pure luck that I met Linda and her family. A mutual friend of ours mentioned my name to Linda and said that I "may" be in town the week the Brooks family would be in the Outer Banks for vacation. Well, ironically, I was there the same week! How awesome is that?!

We played this session by ear. The first day we had set poured like crazy. The next day? Beautiful skies and the perfect temperature. We did their family session right there in Corolla, NC. I love this place, partly because I grew up not far from these beaches. I was so happy to be able to go back for a short, but much needed vacation. It's families like the Brooks that make me love my job, and strive to do more.
