The Little Chapel at Haven Ridge

Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The Little Chapel at Haven Ridge, through our lens.

Some venues you photograph once and remember forever. The Little Chapel at Haven Ridge is one of those. We put together this guide for couples falling for this place who want to know what it's really like to get married here, from the people standing behind the camera.

Think of it as the photographer's-eye version of a venue tour. Where the light is best, what the two main spaces feel like, and two full looks we captured on the property, one in the Chapel and one in the Solarium.

Where it is, and why that matters.

The Little Chapel at Haven Ridge is a family-owned private estate tucked into 56.5 acres of lakeside meadows in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It's a rare thing: a true sanctuary and nature preserve that still sits close to the city, so your guests get the fairytale setting without a complicated trek to find it.

It specializes in elopements and intimate weddings, hosting celebrations of up to 125 guests, with weddings held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As a gated private estate, the whole place feels calm and unhurried on a wedding day, which, as photographers, we love. Calm couples photograph beautifully.

We're based in the Triangle but photograph weddings all across North Carolina, and Haven Ridge is exactly the kind of place worth the drive.

In the Chapel.

The chapel itself is the heart of the property, and it's a stunner. It was purpose-built by local artisans using 500-year-old English brick, with exposed oak ceiling trusses, custom stained glass windows, and two covered porches strung with chandeliers.

From a photography standpoint, the stained glass is the gift. On a bright day it throws color across the floor and the front of the room, and during a ceremony that light does half our work for us. The exposed trusses give the space height and warmth, so portraits inside feel intimate without feeling dark.

Our first look leans right into that warm, light-washed, timeless feeling the room gives you for free.

In the Solarium.

If the Chapel is warm and historic, the Solarium is its bright, airy counterpart. Picture soaring emerald ironwork, walls of arched glass, and a glass dome overhead that pours light down onto everything below. It's the space for couples who want that garden-room feeling, where the outside seems to spill right in.

The light is the whole story here. It's soft and even, the kind that wraps around faces without a harsh shadow in sight. As photographers, this is a dream room. Skin tones look exactly the way they did in person, florals glow, and the whole space has a fresh, just-bloomed quality that makes a spring celebration sing.

The design leaned all the way into that brightness. Ginkgo-patterned linens, warm wood wishbone chairs, and tables crowned with tall leafy branches that echo the greenery just outside the glass. Spring florals in butter yellow and soft white ran down the table, tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, and hellebores, beside little pleated lamps that keep the glow going into the evening.

Even the bar earned its moment. A deep green statement piece with a custom monogram, dressed with branching white blooms and a silver tray of amber cocktails waiting as you walk in. It's the kind of detail that tells guests, right away, that this is going to be a beautiful night.

Step just outside and the Solarium keeps giving. That emerald glass facade makes a showstopping ceremony backdrop, framed by urns of white dogwood blossoms lining the aisle. Two completely different moods, the airy glow inside and the grand green exterior, all in one corner of the property.
