Harrison Family

The North Carolina Museum of Art has quickly become a fan favorite of mine and my clients for portrait sessions. This place holds a special place in my heart because of all of the memories that I have had here. It is even special to know that my clients, such as the Harrison family, feel the same way as I do about it. They frequent this place for small hikes and walks together as a family, so it was only fitting to do their family session at this beauty.

NCMA boasts some fun architecture, but I have to admit—I love the last place we visited which was a mural of a magnolia. Wow, this place is just a great place to photograph. I had such a fun time hanging out with the sweetest 3 little girls and parents. It was also nice to chat more with a friendor (vendor friend) in the wedding industry—shout out to Kelli with Catering Works!

Let me tell you how precious I think the Goblet family is---OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO PRECIOUS!!

Okay, now that that part is out there, let's talk about their sweet newest creation--George IV, or as the little ones have called him--Brogden. I had so much fun with them in their hospital room; and yes, sometimes you have to do newborn sessions in the hospital and it can be totally awesome if you let it!

If you remember from years back, I started as a newborn photographer in the local hospitals around here. I absolutely ADORED that job and learned so much when it came to holding babies, understanding the light in the room, and working in some very very tight spaces. The Goblets were so lucky, they had a swarm of family and friends celebrating with them at the hospital once this little one was born and I had a blast hanging out with the crew while I was there.

I brought a few items to the session, but my favorite image has ZERO to do with anything that I brought with me. My favorite? The image of the whole crew (Mom, Dad, 3 siblings, and the newest bundle of joy) with one of the little ones holding up a balloon of the number "0," because--umm, hello?! Brogden was just born! This family has always pulled my heart strings and I am just over the moon that they love randomness, laughs, and in the moment type of moments--did that make any sense? You will see very soon what I mean.

Also, Daddy George has now rented an RV and the Goblets are touring America as we speak and they are blogging about their journeys. One of my first passions were the workings of family photography. I enjoyed the emotion, the laughs, the rambunctious children. I felt all of those all over again with this group of gals. Stefanie and George are expecting a little one this summer and all of his/her sisters are so excited to meet this gracious one! It's so fun to hear that the parents are planning on finding out the sex of the baby on the day of; I think it's precious and really shows patience in the truest form.

A while back we had originally scheduled this session on a day that rained so so hard! We rescheduled, and ironically had the same forecast for this day. We waited it out and it was during that time that I got the cutest images of the girls running around with their hair wet, mouths open trying to catch the raindrops, all just as happy as a clam. I remember that feeling and it was a great feeling. We had a blast and I am so excited to showcase some awesome family photography!
