Downtown Durham Courthouse Wedding | Kirsten & Seppe

Nothing but 5 star reviews so far on any of the pages I've seen for good reason! Working with Nikki is wonderful. She photographed our elopement with a week's notice, and in that short time she was professional, communicative, organized, energetic, not just on time but early, etc. etc. etc. We are so lucky she was available and she made our special day easy and fun! I can't wait to call her for our next special occasion! “ — Kirsten

I don’t think I could ever express how thankful I am for my clients. Kirsten contacted me after our mutual friend, Lauren, referred me. It’s kind of funny because Lauren had actually told Kirsten that she should do a boudoir session with me, and Kirsten looked at my website and realized that I did both wedding and boudoir. Hilarious, I am glad she chose me for her wedding photos.

Kirsten and Seppe tied the knot on December 12th. They loved the idea to have their wedding date be a double number—read “12/12.” To be honest, I love that detail, too! Since they decided to elope in Durham, NC, they knew they only had a limited time to actually tie the knot at the courthouse. If you are not familiar with Durham County protocol, they only perform marriage ceremonies 1 hour per day. They break it up to do a 30 minute window in the morning, and then a 30 minute window of opportunity in the afternoon. Kirsten and Seppe chose the afternoon slot, and we met in downtown Durham prior so that we could take advantage of the beautiful snow that graced the city a few days before.

We trotted around near the American Tobacco Campus and even made a pitstop at the beautiful Trosa Tree Lot. Afterwards, we headed back to the courthouse where the couple met two of their dear friends so that they could have witnesses for the ceremony. Later, they enjoyed a nice drink at Ponysaurus, which, is always a fun place to go regardless of the occasion. Oh, and before they left to go to Pony, they sent out a blast email with a photo of them together at the courthouse stating what just happened. By the way, this is an awesome way to elope, just saying!

Congratulations Kirsten & Seppe! I wish you many years of happiness together. Thank you for your trust in me for this wonderful wedding of yours!

Mayton Inn Wedding in Cary, NC | Marina & Dustin

Let me start this off by stating that the couple you are about to meet—they are my people. I met Marina & Dustin late last year when they were in town (from Vegas) visiting Marina’s side of the family. You might remember these cuties from their adorable engagement session that took place all around downtown Durham— *read: Fullsteam Brewery Engagement Session. Hello, if these two were willing to hang out with me in a bar…and they even brought their own Blink 182 t-shirts, then yes, they are definitely my people!

I enjoyed getting to know these two over the past year. I have loved their energy together, their spunk, and their just all around happiness. I learned from them of their awesome engagement story which dealt with their puppy, a random beach access that wouldnt let dogs on the premises, and the sweetest of proposals. I also learned of their love for fitness (hey @hbrosfitness) and education. The best thing about these two was that they were completely smitten with one another. There is nothing better than being with a couple who is just meant to be together.

Marina & Dustin had a sort of destination wedding. It was destination in the sense that Dustin’s side of the family either flew or drove in. They rented out the utterly gorgeous Mayton Inn in Cary, NC, and decided to have their reception there. At the start of the day Marina and her girls got ready in the sweetest of suites at the Mayton. Yall, there was a pink circle bed in this room and I about died because I wanted this thing in my house so bad! It was so much fun to see Marina with her mom and all of her girlfriends there with her to bask in the day. I remember one of Marina’s cousins almost holding back tears once she saw Marina in her dress. This is the stuff that really matters and I was just so happy that I could be present for it.

Out front of the Mayton Inn there is an awning which was perfect for their first look. At the start of the day…there was rain. But, with this awning we could still have their first look outside. It was heartwarming when I saw them together, especially Dustin’s face when he saw her for the first time. It was a great start to the day and an even better celebration when the two finally saw each other.

Marina & Dustin tied the knot at the beautiful St. Mary Magdalene Church and shuttled back to the Mayton for their reception. Cocktail hour was held outside under a tent while the final touches were set inside. Yall, when I saw the inside of the Mayton all dolled up for the reception I almost squealed. It was so modern and classy, and the results that we captured on film were some of my all time favorites. I hope you guys can agree! The rest of the night was filled was so much laughter, great music, great dessert, and some amazing dancing! See below for some pretty great dance moves. Dustin, I am looking at you.

Congratulations, Marina & Dustin. It has been the best pleasure getting to know you both, your families, and to present for such a wonderful time in your lives.

Special thanks to all of the vendors who made this day extraordinary!

Edenton, NC Bridal Session | Inner Banks Inn

Oh my word. You know, I get to meet some pretty amazing people through this business. And, I swear, I come in to contact with some of the sweetest, most genuine people—like Sara. I met Sara through a mutual friend, Courtney. I photographed her engagement session with Marcel, along with their wedding that happened this past November. I also had the privilege of photographing her bridal session, and you guys, it’s just as pretty as she is.

For a reference, the day we had planned her bridal session it was raining cats and dogs! Seriously, I can not make this up. See, Sara and Marcel had a short engagement, and the only day we had was two Fridays prior to their wedding date. No fear on my end, as their wedding venue Inner Banks Inn had this gorgeous wrap around white porch that flanked most of the Inn. The mums that hung gave it an extra southern appeal, but to be honest, Sara is the one that draws your eyes.

I love the fact that she decided to wear her amazing cowboy boots! If youre asking if she wore these on her wedding day? The answer is hell yes! Why are my brides always this amazing?! What is your favorite part about her bridal session?
